The art of seeing places, faces and moments
The Photographer
Like many people who turn a lay-off into an opportunity, I found my passion for photography after receiving my pink slip from a Silicon Valley software company in 2002. In the 20+ years before then, I took photos with my Pentax SLR as an advanced amatuer. But when I no longer had a full-time job, I began photographing professionally. My technical background made the transition to the digital darkroom an obvious next step as I began to master Photoshop and print my own photos. Today, I produce my own work as well as do fine art printing for other photographers and artists. I have taught Photoshop classes and currently tutor aspiring photographers. My studio near Seacliff beach in Santa Cruz County serves multiple duties as a gallery for my fine art photography, a work space for printing my and other artist's work, a place for tutoring students, and a portrait studio. My other photographic pursuit – capturing the grace of horses and their riders – takes place in the barns, arenas and show grounds around the Northern California coast. I am a member of the Santa Cruz Art League, Santa Cruz Community of Digital Artists, Aptos Chamber of Commerce and Santa Cruz Chamber of Commerce. I currently reside in Aptos on the central California Coast with my wife Pamela, and two cats, Ansel and Sierra.
